Alcohol and the Brain

October 14, 2008

Now we learn that even a little bit of alcohol can make the brain shrink.

This article is for those who drink because “it is good for me”, but really are hoping that no one is noticing that they are drinking a little too much.

The barrier around the brain, which nature put there to keep out viruses and other things that can hurt the brain, does not keep out alcohol.  Therefore it makes sense that even a little bit of alcohol would shrink the brain.  No one needs to tell us that a lot of alcohol does bad things to the brain – we have all seen people who have drunk so much that they appear to have no brain at all.

Alcohol does a lot of other damage to the body and in fact is the most debilitating of substances, when abused long term.  The liver especially can be damaged to the point of no return when someone is a severe alcoholic.

Loss of friends, family and job also frequently accompany the heavy drinker down the road of destruction.

Heavy drinkers seem to hope that the next drink will deliver them some place other than the hell that they are in – but as Johny Cash described it “I went down, down, down and the flames got higher.”  No one can drink their way out of a problem – though they may drink themselves right out of life.

If you know someone who has a drinking problem, get them some help NOW before they get into so much trouble that they can’t be helped.

How Can You Help?

October 14, 2008

We are all affected by drug abuse.

You most likely know someone who is addicted to drugs.  Perhaps there is someone in your family who is smoking a lot of pot or the guy across the street is drinking too much and you get nervous when you know he is pulling out of his driveway. Even if your problem is only that you notice a rough crowd at the convenience store who are most likely selling and buying drugs, it is still your problem.  You are part of mankind and to some degree you are affected.

From your position in life there is something you can do about the drug epidemic.  Whether you are a lawyer, teacher, clergy or soccer mom, there is something you can do.  You probably already want to help –you just need some direction.

Check out this interesting article and if you need help finding your niche, give us a call at Narconon.  877-413-3073

If someone in your immediate family or a close friend is addicted, do something now and get them into effective treatment.  Narconon is effective.  We have a 76% success rate.

Medicine Cabinet Danger!

October 14, 2008

Sadly, the mother of Aaron Mason is on the wrong side of drug education and prevention-she learned too late about the dangers of prescription drugs and lost her son.

Now her voice is amongst the growing number of concerned citizens that are sounding the alarm – prescription medications are making their way from the medicine cabinet into the school yard.   Traveling far from their designated recipient Xanax, morphine, Valium, Percocet and Oxycontin are taken from the family medicine cabinet and brought to school, passed around and often ingested right on the school grounds.

Often these drugs are the theme of “pharmparties, where the “party goers” are too bleary eyed and doped up to have a good time.

Parents should suspect that their children are being exposed to these drugs in one way or another – even if they are just aware of the fact that they are at school.   It is something that must be brought up around the dinner table, because if kids don’t learn the truth about drugs at home, they are going to learn the lies about drugs at school.

If parents find any pharmaceutical drugs they should immediately suspect that there is probably already some element of drug addiction and get their kid some help- fast. These drugs are dangerous and addictive and are nothing to play around with.

If you need to know the signs of drug abuse or what to do with someone you know is already abusing drugs, then call Narconon. We will send you a free brochure on the signs of drug abuse and help educate you on drug rehab.
