SPEAK RESPONSIBLY

July 17, 2009

The Center on Alcohol Marketing and Youth (CAMY) at Georgetown University recently reported that our youth are exposed more to advertisements encouraging them to drink alcohol, rather than the “drink responsibility” ads.

The message of “drink responsibly” is not being communicated responsibly.

However, it makes no sense to leave the job of discouraging youth from drinking to the alcohol companies, who are driven by the bottom line, not compassion.

Messages concerning the responsibilities of life come from parents and educators, not television.

Gordy Weinand, the Director of Community Relations “Tell your kids not to drink or do drugs.  Don’t wait for them to see a TV ad.  If you don’t know exactly what to say, then request educational materials from Narconon.  Drug prevention is far more economical in the long run than drug treatment.”

Teens: Drug Abuse, Drug Addiction Are Number One Concern

July 17, 2009

Teens lead complicated lives. Peer pressures, relationships, grades, all contribute to teen angst.

However, when asked  “What is the most important problem facing people your age—that is, the thing which concerns you the most?” most teens responded that drugs were their number one concern.

“Parents need to be aware that drugs and drug abuse are a matter of great concern among teens,” comments Mary Rieser of Atlanta Recovery Center Drug Rehab. “There is a great difference in what parents preceive as a problem their child may face and what their child actually faces.”

When parent respondents were asked “And from the point of view of teenagers like your own, what do you think he or she would say is the most important problem someone their age faces?” Their responses were in the majority social pressures and relationships.

Successful Drug Rehab Will Help Economy

July 17, 2009

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics the unemployment rate in the United States just rose to 7.6%, which is a 16-year-high and the worst many have seen in years. The economic scene has yet to get better as just in the last 4 months the number of unemployed persons has risen by 4.1 million.

Mary Rieser, Executive Director for Narconon Drug Rehab, comments, “Just this week, President Obama’s $787 billion economic stimulus plan was approved to revive the economy and save jobs. And in the midst of all this, the federal government is spending hundreds of billions of dollars per year on ineffective drug rehabilitation programs and incarceration costs for non-violent drug offenders.

I AM NOT AT WAR WITH MYSELF ANYMORE

July 17, 2009

NARCONON REFLECTION

Here is a daily realization, one of many today from the class room of the Narconon drug treatment program.

“I have control over my addiction.  I have control of what I put in my body.  My addiction is not my disease.  I have control to make up my mind whether I want to live a sober good life.  I have control over my life.

I have made a lot of good decisions in my time at Narconon.  All of my family drinks, but when I go to visit, I make the decision not to join in and I have just as much fun.  I feel like I finally got some control over my life.

And now, I deserve a lot better for myself and I have confidence that I will do fine.

I am not at war with myself anymore and I feel very peaceful.

I have decided to let go of my drinking problem and I have a lot of fun without it.  There is a lot less stress and I am enjoying life more.”

Narconon New Life program is there for those who have abused heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine, alcohol, marijuana or most drugs of abuse.
