STILL HOPE

July 18, 2009

As long as our international leaders know that legalizing drugs of abuse would be a “historic mistake”, there is hope.

Admitting failure in the war on drugs by flying the white flag of the prescription pad would be the death knoll of this civilization as we know it.  It would signify complete and utter determination to have a world full of zombies –

There is still hope.

“International drug-control policies need to be reformed and the solution to growing drug trafficking and related crime lies in recognizing drugs as a health problem — one that can be prevented, treated and controlled — but not legalizing and taxing drugs, according to a new report from the United National Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

Echoing one of the main arguments of drug-policy reform advocates, the top anti-drug official at the United Nations says that drug prohibition has created “an illicit black market of macro-economic proportions.” But UNODC Executive Director Antonio Maria Costa warned that drug legalization would be a “historic mistake” even as the 2009 U.N. World Drug Report praised drug decriminalization policies enacted in Portugal, where possession remains illegal but users face only civil, not criminal penalties.”

Drugged Driving Wrecking Drivers

July 18, 2009

Mothers Against Drunk Drivers have something else to be mad about.

Drugged driving is becoming a bigger problem than drunk driving and MADD won’t have to change their initials to get involved.

Sixteen percent of nighttime weekend drivers tested positive for drugs, according to a data released Monday by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration survey.

Compare this to the 2.2 percent of surveyed drivers who had a blood-alcohol content of 0.8 percent or higher, (which exceeds the limit).

Gil Kerlikowske, director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy said about the statement:

“This troubling data shows us, for the first time, the scope of drugged driving in America and reinforces the need to reduce drug abuse.”

The news release stated that the survey included 11,000 eligible drivers, with 9,413 drivers agreeing to breath-alcohol measurements, 7,719 providing oral fluid samples and 3,276 nighttime drivers submitting blood samples.

The data was collected by up random sites across the country to question drivers who participated voluntarily and on condition of anonymity.  Due to the voluntary nature of the study, the actual number of drugged drivers is most likely a great deal higher than this study suggests.

The most abuse substance was Marijuana, with 8.3% testing positive for the substance.  Cocaine (3.9%) and prescription drugs (3.9%) were also substances of abuse.

If the legalization of Marijuana is to become a reality, we may face a very serious problem with drivers under the influence on our nation’s highways.  This is something to be considered by lawmakers who would legalize marijuana.

Narconon of Georgia continues to spread the message that there are solutions – drug prevention and drug treatment.

A Mother’s Prayers Are Answered

July 18, 2009

The following is a letter written from a person who had all but given up hope. A Mother.

Hello,

My name is Nancy. I am from NC. I am not a graduate of Narconon of Georgia but someone that is very near and dear to my heart is; my son. Jason. He graduated in Sept.2006. He was a Meth addict plus doing everything else he could get his hands on.

I was watching the graduating videos and I don’t know you all, but I feel like I do and want to say to each one of you all, Hang in there. I am so proud of you all. I know it wasn’t easy but you all are going to make it. God Bless you ALL!!! If I was there I would hug your neck.

Jason hit his 3 year sobriety on May 25, 2009. I feel in my heart that our son would be dead by now if he had not gone to Narconon of Georgia. Since Jason got clean, he has gotten full custody of his now 4 year old son. He had to take a hair follicle test ($125.00) for a year every month to keep his son. (He finished them in June. He had extensive probation. He has really gone through a lot. He told me the other day after he finished the last one, he said (Mama, I took my last test, I am clean, I am drug free, I am finally free). I never knew so few words could mean so much when I heard them.

Jason has become a wonderful father. His dad and I are so proud of him & grateful to Narconon of Georgia. We share our story with strangers and tell them about this wonderful, Life saving place. We even tell law enforcement when we get a chance. A lot of them knew Jason and his troubles. They cannot believe this is the same person. Jason will be 30 next month and I truly thank God for leading us to Narconon of Georgia.

If you would like to speak with Nancy, please call us at 877-413-3073.
